Bake

The Mantra

8:05 AM

Its time to put my spatula up in the air and say a brief mantra to myself.

'I will stop buying pre-made baked goods, I will start baking more.
I will stop eating the same foods over and over, I will make something new everyday.'

So I pull out every food related DVD I own and start watching for inspiration. Julie and Julia, Eat Pray Love, Chocolat, Chef, No Reservations, Check. The Ramen Girl with Brittany Murphy, Classic. My favorite, Ratatouille, watched it a couple of times, but the real question is am I the Rat or the Boy Playing chef.

Spatulas up again.
'I will not 'play' Chef, I will be the Chef, I will be the Rat.'

...I will be the rat, the good kind, the cooking kind. The Rat Chef. The Chef.

Now time to yank out all of my Cook Books, and to be honest its a pretty small stack. I'll be visiting amazon soon for an upgrade on my collection. (I should be shamed for not owning a Julia Child's Recipe book.) For now here is what I'm working with. Making Artisan Pasta, The Italian Vegetable Cookbook, Rachael Ray 2,4,6,8 Great Meals for Couples or Crowds, Rachael Ray 365: No Repeats, Cowgirl Chef, Six Sisters' Stuff, The Complete Irish Pub Cookbook, Can It, and Barefoot Contessa Foolproof. Now for the shifting through recipes and marking Vegetarian meals, (don't hate me for that.) I have no problem cooking meat dishes, the only problem is I would have to find someone in my life that eats meat to taste it for me...any takers?

Now for some love for Julie and Julia, I will bake everyday something new just like Julie, although I wont be just using Julia Child's cookbook. So we will meet here everyday at the end of the day, you and I, cooking.

Spatulas up one last time for a little Eat, Pray, Love.
'I will buy a bigger size of Jeans for preparation.'

I think I'm ready.
