Want to know a food that I don't actually like? Creme Caramel... And to be fair, I had a feeling it wouldn't be my favorite, but I thought I would give it a try anyways. I'm also positive there are different recipes that might change my mind, but then again... Who knows?
At least I gave it a good honest go right? Like I properly ate at least half of it, trying to convince myself the next bite will be better, then spitting the last bite out... It just wasn't happening for me. Always try new foods though, give it a shot. Sometimes they surprise you, and sometimes you just get a good laugh at your attempts at eating something your taste buds despise...
I got the recipe here.
Take 2/3 cup sugar and some water and make caramel over a stove in a sauce pan.
This might take a few try's, although once you get the hang of it, its no big deal...
DO NOT STIR... Swirl.
Drop the caramel into ramekins and let cool in the refrigerator.
In another pan heat 3 cups milk with 2/3 cup sugar. Let dissolve in the heat till it reaches a boil. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla.
In another bowl whisk 4 eggs, then slowly add in the hot milk and whisk quickly.
Add the milk and egg mixture on top of the caramel in the ramekins and place into a baking dish.
Fill the dish with water about 2/3 the height of the ramekins. Place in 300 degree oven for about 40 minutes.
Place in refrigerator to cool. Run a knife around the edges of the ramekins and then flip over on a plate to serve.
So they weren't my cup of tea. But they might be yours, who knows.
