Monkey Bread from Scratch

5:00 PM

Its been a while Monkey Bread. You and I haven't met for a long while and there is a reason for that. That reason is because I eat you in whole before the night is over. Nothing is ever left.

Only regret. Because stomach aches are a thing...

I got the recipe from here.

So you want to start out with a whopping 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast, 1 1/3 cups warm water, and 1 teaspoon sugar. Let that dissolve and sit for about 5 minutes.

In a separate mixing bowl mix together 3 1/2 cups flour, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and 2 teaspoons salt.

Add in the yeast mixture.

Beat the dough on medium high for about 5 minutes.
Then coat the bottom of the bowl and the top of the dough with oil.
Let rise for 1 1/2 hours.

Cut into small balls.

Make a mixture of 1/3 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. (I added plenty more cinnamon.)

Roll the balls in the sugar cinnamon mixture and place in a bundt pan or equivalent.

On the stove melt 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup brown sugar and 2 teaspoons water.

Pour over the cinnamon balls and put in the oven at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

Take out of the oven and flip it over.

Devour. With ice cream, with whipped cream, or at its best, on its own.

Its even better than it looks, if that is possible.
